IS LIFE IN THE SUBURBS DESTROYING YOUR SOUL?

On March 28th of 2026, Cross of Christ Fellowship hosted an event that asked this very question.

The truth is this: living in a beautiful, affluent place like Naperville can be very challenging to a person’s soul. We can be tempted to think that the nice things of this world are more and satisfying that God. We can so fill our schedules that we leave no room for worship, real community, or service for our neighbor. We can fall into the deadly cycle of endlessly comparing ourselves with others.

The answer is not to move out of Naperville, but to treasure Christ while living in Naperville, and to do this in community with other believers. Only the gospel can deliver us from the powerful allurements of sin and temptation, and only through the gospel can we become reconciled to God and given new spiritual life in Christ.
