FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

About Visiting

What should I expect when I visit Cross of Christ Fellowship?

We are a gospel-centered, Reformed Baptist church in downtown Naperville. Our worship service includes prayer, Scripture reading, congregational singing, expository preaching, the Lord’s Supper, and fellowship. Visitors are welcome.

How is Cross of Christ Fellowship different from other churches in Naperville?

We praise God for the other faithful, evangelical churches in Naperville that are proclaiming the gospel and making disciples. In many ways, what you will find at our church is what you will see in these other churches: proclaiming God; equipping Christians to live out their faith during the week; worship through song; taking the Lord’s Supper; etc.

What makes our church different? We are certainly smaller than most of the other churches; we have a simple worship service focused on proclaiming and treasuring Christ; we have a close-knit church family made up of members who try to be intentional with each other during the week; we are Reformed Baptists in our theology—see this page to learn more about our theological distinctives.

What should I wear?

Most people dress casually or business casual. Wear whatever is comfortable for you.

Do I need to know the Bible to attend?

No. Many people visit while exploring Christianity or returning to church after many years.

Are children welcome?

Yes. We love having children in our worship services and ministries. Here’s where you can learn more about how we approach children’s ministry.

How long is the service?

Approximately 90 minutes.

Christians believe the Bible is God's Word, inspired by Him and trustworthy in all it teaches.

Why did Jesus have to die?

Jesus died as a substitute for sinners, bearing God's judgment so that those who trust in Him may be reconciled to God.

About Our Church

What does it mean that Cross of Christ Fellowship is Reformed Baptist?

We believe salvation is by God's grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. We hold to Baptist convictions regarding church membership and believer's baptism. While the Bible is our highest authority, we subscribe to the 1689 London Baptist Confession as a summary of the Bible’s teachings.

What is expository preaching?

Expository preaching explains and applies the meaning of a biblical passage in its context. You can hear some of our sermons here.

Do you have to agree with everything the church teaches to attend?

No. Anyone is welcome to attend and learn.

How can I learn more about your beliefs?

You can read our statement of faith or speak with one of our pastors.

Is Christianity relevant to suburban life?

Yes. The Bible addresses the deepest questions of identity, purpose, success, family, work, suffering, and hope. Only Christ can satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart. If we are to ‘survive suburbia’ we must to look Christ, who transforms how live and love others in whatever context we live in.
