CROSS OF CHRIST KIDS

What Does Children’s Ministry Look Like at Cross of Christ Fellowship?

We are thankful for the children God has brought into our church. Our hope and prayer is that children would believe the gospel and come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Here are some of the ways we seek to minister to children (and parents of children) who are part of the congregation.

Sunday School (ages 8-12): “Studying the Bible Curriculum”

Beginning in the Fall of 2026, the children ages 8-12 participate in a Sunday School class before service (9-9:45). We are utilizing a resource produced by Foundation Worldview Curriculum called “Studying the Bible.” This 30 week course is designed to help children learn the basic tools of how to reach the Bible for themselves, and our prayer is that students would not only become great students of the Bible, but also great lovers of God and God’s Word.

Here’s a video from Elizabeth Urbanowicz who created the “Studying the Bible Curriculum.”

Involvement in the Life of the Church:
Attending Services, Serving, and Participating

We encourage children ages 4 and up to attend worship services (for those under 4 we have nursery). During the worship service, we hope that children will join in singing the hymns and worship songs, read Scripture aloud with the congregation, pray, and hear from God through the preaching of God’s Word (children are often directly addressed from the pulpit and given age-appropriate illustrations and questions to help them understand God’s Word).

We also have opportunities for children to serve and participate in ministry. Some of the older children serve alongside adults in nursery, assist with running slides for our projector, or help with set up and tear down. Children also participate in packing meals with us at Feed My Starving Children, sing at our Cookies & Carols Service, and even help at some of our other outreaches

Equipping Parents

Parents provide the primary spiritual leadership in the home. Our prayer is that, by Gods’ grace, children will be raised in loving homes where they regularly hear the gospel and see it lived out. As a church, we encourage parents to regularly read the Bible with their children, pray with them, talk about the sermon, engage in Scripture memory and catechism, and participate in ways of hospitality and mission.

We know that learning how to do this is not easy. With that in mind, our church seeks to equip and help parents shepherd in this area. We regularly provide resources, training, and encouragement.

Nursery

For those with children under the age of 4 we have nursery on Sunday mornings. The children are looked after in a safe environment where they are loved and taught about Jesus.
