Our Mission: Making Disciples as Disciples

'Making Disciples as Disciples' is the mission statement for Cross of Christ Fellowship. We want to obey Jesus’ Great Commission:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20, ESV)

A person who turns from their sin (repentance) and places their faith in Jesus is a disciple.

Jesus has called us to be his disciples and to make disciples of others (see others come to Christ). This compels us to be on the mission of making disciples as disciples. We strive to become more like Jesus and to preach the gospel to the lost around us.

Long-Term Goals

We pray that God works through Cross of Christ Fellowship to bring about long-term transformation to the cultural landscape of Naperville. Specifically, we pray for several areas of redemption:

  1. A greater presence of those who proclaim the gospel (through the conversion of many who are lost in Naperville) in the major subcultures of the city (affluent, immigrants, youth, lower-income);
  2. A new perspective on community–valuing its importance above comfort and independence;
  3. More churches being planted in Naperville, Chicago and its suburbs, and beyond.
